Volunteers are needed for our food pantry which serves the community from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays. If interested contact Dea. Lorenza Breedlove or the church office. Covid 19 protocols are in place. Food /monetary donations may be dropped-off at the church office during the week.

If your child is four-years-old on or before Sept. 1 and is eligible for Medicaid, free-or reduced-price lunch program, SNAP/TANF benefits OR is experiencing homelessness, transiency or in foster care, First Nazareth’s First Steps program has a place for you. Call 803-401-8995 to enroll.

Friday is the deadline to register to vote in person at 2020 Hampton St. On-line, fax, email registration deadline is next Sunday and by mail deadline is Monday, Oct. 5.

Any registered voter in South Carolina can now vote absentee in November. Get started by completing a request for absentee application, then completing and returning the application when received. Ballots will be mailed beginning Oct. 1 and must be returned by Nov. 3. For further information, call the church office, 803-254-6232.

You’re invited to tour Vote Equality’s 30-ft RV that will be in the Millwood Ave. Parking Lot Oct. 6, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., as part of its Southern Tour. Come out and learn about voting for equality. Covid-19 protocols observed.

The 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s is virtual. We are having a team again this year and Rev. Olivia Williams is serving as captain. Donations to the First Nazareth team may be made online, mailed to the church or given to Rev. Williams. The walk takes place October 24.

The City of Columbia, CVS Health and Benedict College have opened a free, rapid testing site at 1903 Two Notch Rd through Tuesday. You must pre-register in advance at 803-705-4351 to schedule a time slot. Results provided on-the-spot.

Free Covid-19 testing Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., MLK Park Softball Field and USC’s Baseball Stadium.

Prisma Health is providing free flu shots every Saturday in October at various locations in Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, Kershaw and Sumter counties, beginning Oct. 3, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., Lower Richland High School. Insurance is not required. Anyone age six months and older is eligible for the vaccine that will be provided in a drive-through setting. Please make sure to wear loose clothing. Flu shots also will be available Wednesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 6-29, from 3–6 p.m. at Prisma Health Richland, Nine Medical Park, first-floor lobby area.
