The Progressive Ministry aids members who are sick, shut-in or bereaved. If you are seeking a ministry
that allows you to grow in grace and exercise your faith, join the ministry on the third Tuesdays monthly

Girl Scouting offers opportunities to make new friends, explore the world, earn scholarships and go on
adventures. First Nazareth has Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes & Senior troops for girls ages 5-18 to join. Registration ends Sept. 21. Contact the church office for registration information.

Our 2020 Men’s Day and B N Scott Scholarship Financial Drive is underway. Donations designated for
Men’s Day and the scholarship will be accepted through Sept. 30. Men of First Nazareth, Walking in Faith: Bring it On!

This fall, the Greater Waverley Foundation’s Village Initiative is going virtual. Academic support for
students – in the form of one-on-one tutoring and homework assistance – will be offered virtually. For further information, contact gwfvirtualvillage@gmail.com

The Greater Waverly Foundation is providing Virtual Youth Protection Training for the Virtual Village Tutors/Volunteers and other persons working with youth in the church via Zoom Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. To

If your child is four-years-old on or before Sept. 1 and is eligible for Medicaid, free-or reduced-price lunch program, SNAP/TANF benefits OR is experiencing homelessness, transiency or in foster care, First Nazareth’s First Steps program has a place for you. Call 803-401-8995 to enroll.

Volunteers are needed for our food pantry which serves the community from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on
Saturdays. If interested contact Dea. Lorenza Breedlove or the church office. Covid 19 protocols are in place. Food /monetary donations may be dropped-off at the church office during the week.

Don't miss the October 2 deadline to register for the critical November 3 election. In Richland County,
register in person at 2020 Hampton St. Register online, by mail, email or fax. Use your voice. Register to vote.

Any registered voter in South Carolina can now vote absentee in November. Get started by completing a request for absentee application, then completing and returning the application when
received. Ballots will be mailed beginning Oct. 1 and must be returned by Nov. 3. For further information, call the church office, 803-254-6232.

The 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s is virtual. We are having a team again this year and Rev. Olivia Williams is serving as captain. Donations to the First Nazareth team may be made online, mailed to the
church or given to Rev. Williams. Donations of $100 or more by Sept. 24 receive a free t-shirt. The walk
takes place October 24.

Prisma Health and SC DHEC are offering FREE Drive-Thru COVID 19 Testing every Tuesday, Friday and
Saturday, from 8 a.m.–noon, through Sept. 29, at the former Probation, Pardon and Parole Building, 2204 Lee St.

The City of Columbia, CVS Health and Benedict College have opened a free, rapid testing site at 1903
Two Notch Rd through Sept 30. You must pre-register in advance at 803-705-4351 to schedule a time slot. Results provided on-the-spot.

Prisma Health is providing free flu shots every Saturday in October at various locations in Richland,
Lexington, Fairfield, Kershaw and Sumter counties, beginning Oct. 3, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., Lower Richland High
School. Insurance is not required. Anyone age six months and older is eligible for the vaccine that will
be provided in a drive-through setting. Please make sure to wear loose clothing. Flu shots also will be
available Wednesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 6-29, from 3–6 p.m. at Prisma Health Richland, Nine Medical Park, first-floor lobby area. For complete schedule, visit PrismaHealth.org/FreeFluShots.
